Questions answered

Straight answers to what people most often ask before speaking up.

Who reads my concern?

It is delivered only to the legal mailbox named in our Whistleblowing / Speak-Up Policy, with a copy to the Director. It is shared further only with people who need it to investigate or put things right.

Can I raise a concern anonymously?

Not through this portal: it verifies your work email so that only people at RODMENA can use it, which means the handlers can see who you are. You can ask us to protect your identity and we will. To stay anonymous, report to a prescribed body such as a regulator, and take free advice from Protect first.

What if my concern is about the Director?

Speak-Up reports reach the Director, so use an independent route instead: a regulator or other prescribed body, your MP, or advice from Protect. The other routes page lists them with contact details.

Do I need evidence?

No. You need a reasonable belief that something is wrong. Describe what you saw or know and what evidence exists, but do not go looking for evidence you are not entitled to access.

Will I get into trouble if I am wrong?

Our policy protects anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it turns out to be unfounded. The law protects disclosures where you reasonably believe the information shows wrongdoing and that raising it is in the public interest, even if you turn out to be mistaken. Information you know to be false is not protected.

How long will it take?

You receive a reference by email straight away. We acknowledge your concern within 7 days and aim to give you feedback within 3 months. Some matters take longer; if so, we tell you.

Is what I write stored on this website?

No. The text of your report is delivered by email and is not kept in the portal’s database. The portal keeps only a reference, the date, the category and delivery receipts. One-time codes and sessions are deleted within 24 hours.

I do not have a RODMENA email address. Can I still raise a concern?

Yes. Contractors, suppliers and customers are covered by our policy. Email legal@rodmena.co.uk with “Speak-Up” in the subject, or use one of the external routes.

The code email has not arrived. What should I do?

Check your junk folder and wait a minute or two. Codes expire after 10 minutes, so request a new one from the start if needed. If codes never arrive, email legal@rodmena.co.uk marked “Speak-Up”.

Can I add more information later?

Yes. Reply to the acknowledgement you receive, or raise a new report quoting your original reference.

What if I am treated badly after speaking up?

Tell us straight away with a new report that quotes your original reference. Retaliation is itself a breach of our policy and is treated as serious misconduct. You also have legal rights, and Protect or Acas can advise you.

Is this the same as a grievance?

No. A grievance is about your own treatment at work. Speak-Up is for wrongdoing that affects others or the public interest. If you are unsure, use Speak-Up and we will tell you if another route fits better.

Ready to raise a concern?

It takes about ten minutes. You verify your work email, describe what happened, and we take it from there.
